Having a petticoat roof adds an extra layer of sun and rain protection.  

Makes for an excellent guard against bird poop and tree sap which can be potentially dangerous to canvas if its left to sit for too long. Some types of tree sap is hard to remove off the canvas, so take the hassle out of cleaning and invest in a petticoat roof. Please note the roofs are nylon and not as robust as the canvas so will deteriorate if left up a long time. They are designed to bear the brunt of the elements - but will definitely help keep it clean and protected.
